Welcome to Olivia Canela! My name is Paula and here I share tips and inspiration for a healthy, creative, and nurturing life… in the city. I believe that even in an urban setting, with a tiny yard (or none at all), in a place with less than ideal weather, we can create an idyllic alternative lifestyle and a vibrant community. I call this path Small Batch Living.
I was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal and arrived over a decade ago in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. During that time I completed a Ph.D. in Biology, started a family, and became passionate about growing my own food, sourcing local produce, raising my family in an environmentally aware fashion, and what started it all: creating natural skincare.
Olivia Canela was born in 2008 selling safe and affordable skincare alternatives, hard to find locally. In 2013, my friend Elisabeth and I joined forces and started SeaBerry Studios. We host workshops on how to create beautiful skincare with kind ingredients. In the end is all about empowering people to make safe, affordable, and customised skincare in their own homes.
This blog started as part of Olivia Canela but it grew in something much bigger and meaningful. I share what I know about food, urban agriculture, natural parenting, and general wellness. More importantly, how to make it all work in the city!
Enjoy your stay!
