Happy Tuesday folks!
Christmas started this weekend at our home. A beautiful winter sun shone on Saturday, the time was right for a family excursion to locate The Tree. Each December we go to a different spot. Last year we were was so late in the holiday season we ended up 10 minutes away from the city, which was pretty unexciting. Adding to not-your-finest-Christmas-experience: my massive 7-month pregnant belly and the darkness that had settled by the time the tree was chosen and cut.
A Google maps search presented the appealing Nuggetville. Yes, there is such a place in this beautiful province-of-surprises, but we didn’t make such acquaintance this time. The drive was considerably long when I had to get home and bake 3-dozen cookies for that evening’s cookie exchange.
Salmonier Line was the chosen place. Relatively close from town but a respectable distance to be considered a road trip. Passed Holyrood we turned onto a side road to find a pond surrounded by a nice wooded area. In no time we had a tree picked, cut and propped on the top of the car.
On our return, we stopped by a small fish truck on the side of the road and got some cod fillets and tongues, and we still had time to visit the St. John’s Farmers’ Market to pick up eggs and our Christmas Turkey from Oliver’s Farm.
Our Christmas is so far off to a good start and hope yours is as well, if that is your thing.
Have a wonderful week! Make it count.
