Full-scale nesting instinct has conquered the house during the past couple of weeks and has not affected just me but also my other half. Chris and I (and a few obliging family members) have been painting some rooms, putting new flooring in others, while getting rid of many books, clothes, and furniture. It is chaotic and dusty but is like moving to a brand new house and I am eagerly anticipating the end result. Samuel is surprisingly fine with the daily furniture moves and reduced play area. We try to make it up to him by spending as much time outdoors as the weather allows. Bike rides and bonfires have all been activities that we are slowly welcoming into our lives.
While the nesting urge has undeniably hit, I don’t seem to have found the “burst of energy” that is known to come with it. Many pauses and a few naps are needed throughout the day. I am also trying to use this time to meet with friends and do some creative projects. Sometimes both can be combined. Like my visit with Ellie where we did the only effective all-natural deodorant I know (SeaBerry Studios recipe), made some cards, and cooked delicious roasted chickpeas sprinkled with Ellie’s tangy popcorn mix. And then there is the gardening and yoga, both of which help me relax and almost forget the busy times I have ahead.
Have a wonderful weekend! Make it count.
PS – If you have some time tomorrow, stop by the Foran Room at the St. John’s City Hall for the 6th Annual FEASt Fest entitled “Find It! Eat It! Grow It!”. There is a stellar line-up of presenters, booths, and activities (including a seed swap table). It is the perfect event to get you inspired for the growing season ahead.
